216U FRE-CUT™
GOLD is the longest-lasting,
best cutting sandpaper I've used. Its about the only
dry sandpaper I've found that sands dewaxed shellac
and other hard-to-sand finishes without corning
immediately. (See photo below). It's graded
to tighter particle size deviation tolerances and is
made with modified stearates that do not cause
problems with in-between sanding of water-based
finishes. It leaves no residue which results in a
chalky look or causes problems with finishes. It's
well worth the price and it's one of the most often
used sandpaper in my shop.
NOTE - 216u is "P" graded. To see how this

panel was coated with Oxford Hybrid varnish. After
20 rubs, the traditional stearated sandpaper (3M
Fre-Cut) on the left corned, while the 216U Gold on
the right was clean

always wished there would be a paper you could dry
sand with that wouldn't immediately fill up with
finish 'corns'. I can't believe how long it lasts!
It is so liberating to be able to see what you're
doing by dry sanding instead of continually drying
off the piece to see if you've accomplished your
goal.
I never
do furniture, only pianos, but I just did a desk
from the mayor's office here and I used the Oxford
Hybrid and before the top coat went on I sanded with
the 800 you sent, and I was astonished at how fast
and how well the job went. At any price, it is a big
time saver and economically a winner. I will be
ordering sleeves of a couple grits very shortly."
